He was born on November 2, 1957 in Kibbutz Revivim, where he moved to Ramat Hasharon, where he studied at the Neveh Magen State High School and the Sharon Comprehensive High School. He was an active member of the Mahanot Ha’olim youth movement and spent the rest of his free time studying, and at an early age he discovered his talents in the real world – he took part in the studies of the mathematics department, which was sent to him at the recommendation of his teachers, Part of national competitions and even won prizes, says Shlomo Kandelstein, director of the chess club, which was established in memory of Noam: “Much has been said and will be said about him. It seems that the quality and quantitative power in the fields that dealt with them left their mark on every corner. How did he do that? Security, science, chess, culture – were a way of life for him, and all this in such a short time, humble, modest and thoughtful. And this is only a summary of his image. Despite all the restrictions on health, Noam volunteered for compulsory service. At the end of January 1976 he was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Intelligence Corps. In the course of his service, he underwent a course for intelligence officers and completed with great success, and in the course of his position he earned the appreciation of his commanders who said: “The officer fulfills his duties in a highly professional manner and devotes himself above and beyond. On the day of the Intelligence Corps and on the day of the Intelligence Corps, 1978, Noam received from the head of the Intelligence Directorate the senior intelligence prize – the “Creative Thinking Award” – for a direct contribution to the improvement of intelligence in an essential field. (26.9.1978) Noam was killed while serving in the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery and was 21 years old when he fell, leaving behind his parents, brother and sister, and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family. ‘In English means’ intelligence’ – intelligence. Noam was the embodiment of an intelligence officer, and in the most sophisticated way. He realized the intellectual confrontation with the enemy. We saw him blossoming before our eyes. Was an outstanding soldier of the unit. We knew him every day, until his very last day, as a brilliant, alert, thorough young man, firmly adhering to his views, and it was a pleasure to have a conversation and a discussion on any subject. With dedication and devotion he built the path of military service, and wherever he did he succeeded in raising every restriction and asking to see him as every soldier and officer. In the service of the army, it will be a symbol of the lack of limits to professional ability and coping with body and spirit. “The family established a chess and culture club in his name, Noam, affiliated with the youth home in Neve Magen.
