Snoni, Benyamin (Benny)

Born in 1926 in Sinan, Yemen, immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1935. Benyamin grew up in the Hatikva neighborhood near Tel Aviv. In 1945 he enlisted in the Palmach and went to a hachshara in Ayelet Hashahar, but after a year and a half, he had to go home to help support the family, being the eldest son. Benyamin worked and continued training and military activity in the framework of the infantry unit. Among other things, he participated in deception activities during the immigration of illegal immigrants. With the start of the War of Independence Benyamin joined the defenders of the Hatikva neighborhood, Beit Yaakov and the Salameh road. He joined the Givati ​​Brigade to take part in the Nachshon activities to clear the road to the capital. Hartuv, Atarot, etc. Finally Benyamin fought in the southern front and fell in an attack on Beit Daras on the second of Iyar 5708, May 11, 1948. He was hit by a sniper bullet in his shoulder, and because of the enemy’s intense fire it was impossible to get him out of the battlefield. Benyamin began crawling, but did not have the strength to continue and died. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Beer Tuvia. Left behind his fiance.
