Smirnov, Merritt


Son of Rima and Valerie. Born in the city of Leningrad on the 19th of Adar 11, ​​March 25, 1981. From an early age, Merritt stood out as a talented student and excelled in several fields of study. In September 1996, as part of the “Naaleh 16” project, 15-year-old Merritt immigrated to Israel without his family. He enlisted in the army and became a staff Sergeant. He was assigned to reserve duty in the Home Front Command’s GHQ Battalion. He fell in the line of duty on the 14th of Elul, September 3, 2009, a few hours after he began reserve duty in Tze’elim. Merritt was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, leaving behind his parents and brother.
