Son of Anna and Vladimir. Born in the Old City of Lvov, Ukraine on August 18, 1980. David was weak and sick in childhood, and in order to become stronger he began to engage in sports activities from a very early age. David went on to study in an elementary school in Rishon Letzion, and from a very young age began to work to finance his own pocket money, and in 1993 the family moved to Ashdod, where David studied at the junior high school in Kfar Silver. With the karate coach Moshe Buchnik David arrived in a black belt and won twice the country championship in karate at the age of 16 and at the age of 17 In 1997, he completed a course for certified karate instructors and in the last period of his life he trained a young generation of students and devoted all his spare time to sport, and his dream was to serve in the regular army as a sports instructor.Vid was a sociable boy and very popular among his friends. David had a special relationship with his sister’s little daughters Irena, who loved them very much, played with them, and fined them, and before working for the IDF he worked in a jewelry factory in Tel Aviv. In August 1999, David enlisted in the IDF and served in the Border Guard. Like everywhere, here too many friends have bought. On April 12, 2002, Sgt. David Smirnoff fell in a battle in the Gaza Strip at the age of twenty-one. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Ashdod. Survived by his parents, sister and nieces.
