Smadarsman, Yochanan

Son of Tzilla and Baruch. He was born in 1925 and lived with his family in Jerusalem. At the outbreak of World War II, he was accepted as a member of the Haganah and enlisted in the British Army and served in the Royal Transport Corps. He had gone through the war and her troubles in peace. When he was discharged from the British Army, he decided to continue his military service and volunteered for the Guard Corps. His commanders, who knew the military knowledge he had acquired in his military service, elevated him to the rank of Corporal and appointed him the corporal of the guard at the Tel Litvinsky station (Tel Hashomer of today). On September 7, 1947, Yochanan was shot by British uniformed men. He was seriously wounded and on 24 Elul, September 9, 1947, he died of his wounds. On 9.9.1947 he was brought to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery. Survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister. His younger brother Moshe fell in Gush Etzion during the War of Independence.
