Sklatsky, Moshe

Born in 1898 in the city of Berdichev, Ukraine, he immigrated to Israel in 1914. Shortly after his arrival, the First World War broke out, and because of his Russian citizenship, the Turks deported him to Egypt. He volunteered for the detachment regiment that fought in Gallipoli and in 1918 volunteered for the Jewish Legion of the King’s Rifles. After the war he returned to Israel and worked as a builder-contractor. In recent years he was a resident of Holon. During the War of Independence he served in the “Kiryati” Brigade, and served as a veteran member of the Haganah. Moshe fell during his service on the 11th of Iyar 5708 (May 20, 1948). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak
