Sitton, Moshe (Musa)


Moshe, son of Mazal and Yitzhak Sitton, wsa born in 1898 in the city of Aleppo, Syria and immigrated to Israel in 1922 and settled in Jerusalem. To support his wife and eight children he worked as a contractor for plasterwork and building. He was known as a quiet and humble man, doing charity and kindness. At the beginning of the War of Independence he accepted the call and took up service in the “People’s Guard”. Despite his age and the responsibility of his family, he fulfilled his duty day and night out of recognition that he must also contribute to the liberation of the homeland and the protection of the Holy City. On the 20th of Iyar 5708 (29.5.1948), standing guard at the “Yeshurun” checkpoint, he was killed by a shell and brought to eternal rest in the Givat Shaul cemetery.
