Simhon, Yosef

Son of Hannah and Machluf. He was born on December 27, 1929 in Haifa. He studied at the St. Luke English School and from there went to study at the vocational school at the Technion. At the end of his studies, he began working in the Haifa Bay Refinery, a job he loved very much and found great satisfaction. While still in the vocational school, Yosef joined the ranks of the Haganah and filled many important and important positions willingly and devotedly. When the first draft order was published at the outbreak of the War of Independence, Yosef hurried to the recruitment office to be among the first volunteers but did not manage to enlist. Two days before the date of its enlistment, on 17 December 1947, Arab rioters attacked the Jewish workers of the refineries and carried out a cruel massacre there. Among the dozens of victims was Yosef. He was laid to rest at the Hof Hacarmel cemetery in Haifa.
