Simchi, Benayahu (“Benny”)


Son of Haim and Sarah. He was born on March 27, 1957 in Rosh Ha’ayin, studied at the Ohel Shem religious elementary school in Rosh Ha’ayin, studied at the Beit Yaakov elementary school and completed his studies at the religious comprehensive high school in Rosh Ha’ayin. The school spent a lot of time with his grandfather, and from there he acquired the foundations of religious belief and thought, and he became famous for his industriousness, alertness, and achievements, and his teachers learned that his exuberant exterior did not prevent him from pursuing his studies and being an outstanding student. He was a talented student, full of joy, and was full of volunteer spirit and help He completed his studies in the mechanical program of the school and was successful in the government examinations and was awarded the title of mechanical locksmith, while Benayahu joined the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement and was one of the active members of the Rosh HaAyin branch. Benayahu was drafted into the IDF in October 1975 and was put into the air force. He completed basic training and as an adult, he was sent to an Air Force unit as a member of a technical squad. From childhood he dreamed of serving in a combat unit and asked to serve as a parachutist. After a long struggle, the IDF allowed him to move from his infantry corps to serve in the infantry as a parachutist, and Benayahu was Simcha and enjoyed every moment in the parachuting course, despite the many difficulties he faced. On May 23, 1977, a private soldier was killed while serving in a helicopter crash in the Jordan Valley, killing 54 soldiers.
