Sima, Yitzhak


Son of Israel. He was born on 14.11.1915 in the town of Kolki in the Volhynia district of Ukraine, in a home full of Jewish atmosphere and Zionist consciousness. In 1931, after completing his elementary studies, he moved to the city of Lutsk to study at the Hebrew Gymnasium. He was also interested in the knowledge of the Land of Israel, sociology and philosophy, and a special interest was found in the writings of AD Gordon and YH Brenner, and he joined the “Vitkinia” group, whose members split from the Gordonia movement. He also joined the “Ma’aleh Hahamisha” group near Jerusalem after the outbreak of World War II, and joined the British army after the outbreak of World War II (the “Baps” of Eretz Israel), which later served as the basis for the establishment Jewish Brigade. When the Brigade fought on the Senio front in Italy, Yitzhak served as a departmental runner. On the night of the 23rd of Nissan (April 6, 1945), an ammunition explosion occurred in a ruined building in which the headquarters was located. Five soldiers died in the fire, Yitzhak among them. The next day the five were buried in a mass grave in the cemetery in Ravenna, Italy. A memorial to Yitzhak was established in the Ma’ale Hachamisha group.
