Silverstone, S.


During the First World War he enlisted in England for the Jewish Legion – the 39th Battalion of the King’s Rifles in the framework of the British Army. Together with the battalion he arrived in Palestine to participate in the conquest of the Turks. He fought at the front of Jericho and in the conquest of a-Salt in Transjordan. On the sixth day of Av, 6.8.1919, he died at the time of his service, and his name was commemorated at the “Soldiers’ House” in Avihail and in the “Book of Recognition for British Jewry.” He is buried in Egypt.
