Silberstein, Moshe-Israel

Son of Haim and Miriam. He was born on November 21, 1950 in the city of Lignitz, Poland. His family immigrated to Israel in 1957. He began studying at the “Sinai” elementary school in Be’er Sheva. He loved sports and especially devoted his time to football and basketball. In his spare time, he liked to write a poem on various subjects in writing, or to express an opinion on what was going on in Israel. He was a boy with a Yaffa soul, humble and quiet, and did not stand out among his friends. He was devoted to his family with all his soul, and was religious and observant, who prayed three times a day. When he was on Kibbutz Gesher HaZiv, he would go out to the field to pray there and commune with his Creator. He then moved to Kibbutz Shluhot, on the Beit Shean road. In November 1968, he was drafted into the IDF and served in the Negev, where he served as a military chaplain (such as religious affairs and all that belonged to them), missed school and found out what he had lost as a child when he did not want to study. On the day of his death, on the 12th of Adar 5731 (March 31, 1971), Moshe-Yisroel died two days after being wounded while carrying out his duties.
