Silberman, Shimon


Son of Genia and Ze’ev, was born on October 24, 1926, in the Ginegar group in the Jezreel Valley. He studied at the local school, completed 12 years of study and excelled in his studies. He stood out for his courage, his courage, and his simple and pure love for work. Just as he did his work in the field and in the vineyard with humility and love, so he served his people and his homeland. Its main characteristic – strict honesty. Was one of the few who spoke and did most of the work, because he had a great rule: “To work and to advance and not to be deterred by the difficulties that stand in the way.” In 1946, he joined the Palmach and served in the vicinity of Jerusalem, participated in Haganah underground activities during the period of the struggle and was active in Aliyah to Biriya, and on the Black Saturday (29.6.1946) he was in Ramat Rachel. , And from there to Latrun and finally to Rafah, where he moved to the Ma’aleh Hahamisha and Arava communities, and from there, with the outbreak of the War of Independence, to Gush Etzion, and on January 14, 1948 he participated in repelling the great Arab attack that saved the besieged Gush Katif. Weapons and mines, often from a “home” substance where the work involved danger, knowing the dangers, and always warning his friends at the time Shimon was killed in Kfar Etzion during the leaving of mines on February 23, 1948. He was first buried in Kfar Etzion and later He was sent to the Gniger cemetery for a rest, and his group published a pamphlet in his memory: “Shimon.”
