Silberman, Eliezer (“Lazar”)

Silberman, Eliezer (“Lazar”)

Eliezer, son of Yitzhak and Bella Silberman, was active in Betar youth organizations in Europe and immigrated to Israel on the ship Altalina in 1948. He participated in the War of Independence in the South and upon his release. A month after his marriage, the Sinai Campaign broke out and he volunteered for the ranks of the fighters and when he was not actually accepted, he fought for his desire to lend a hand to his brothers in the war. Eliezer was in reserve duty when the Six-Day War broke out and fell in combat on the first day, on 26 June 1967, in the Gaza Strip as a result of a shrapnel during the shelling. He left a wife and two daughters. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
