Silberman, Avner


Son of Rivka and Menachem-Mendel, was born on October 16, 1928 in Tel Aviv, studied in the ultra-Orthodox Talmud Torah and later in Rabbi Amiel’s yeshiva in Tel Aviv. He joined the Irgun underground and specialized in the arms industry. He excelled with courage and constant vigilance for daring action. He was warm-tempered, and even during illness he did not want to rest until the enemy was expelled. “We will not let them do what they did to our brothers in Europe,” he said. Since the end of April 1948, the “Yevusi” operation was carried out in the Jerusalem area, in order to create a territorial contiguity in the city and between Jerusalem To the settlements in the north of the country, for the purpose of the operation, the Harel Brigade was transferred to Jerusalem, and on April 22-23, its forces attacked Shuafat, Beit Iksa and Nebi Samuel, and the attack began at dawn. In the light of the day, there were many casualties, and on this day he fell on the 14th of Nisan 5708 (22.4.1948) and was brought to rest in the Kiryat Anavim cemetery.
