Silber, Uzi


Son of Hanna and Yitzhak, was born on April 19, 1940 in Tel Aviv. Uzi studied in Tel Aviv. After graduating from elementary and junior high school, Uzi continued to study in high school, in mechanics. In September 1959, he arrived for regular army service, but due to a low level of health, he was released from regular service and placed in a reserve unit in the Haganah, in the capacity of truck driver. In the Peace for Galilee War, Uzi was recruited in September 1982. On 28.10.1982, when he traveled from Hamdun to Damur, in the Ali region, he was shot, hit in the head, and died. He was 42 years old at the time of his death. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv. He left behind a wife, two sons, a daughter and a mother. Defense Minister Ariel Sharon wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Uzi Zilber gave his life for his homeland, he served in a reserve unit, was a good soldier with a developed sense of humor, and everyone he knew”
