Sigavi, Shalom (Salem)
Son of Rivka and Yaakov, was born in 1938 in the city of Basra, Iraq, and immigrated to Israel in 1950. Shalom began studying in a public school in his city and when he arrived in Israel, his family settled in Afula and continued to study at the “Yizre’el” elementary school. He completed his studies at the ORT vocational school in Afula. Shalom played soccer in the Maccabi Afula group. Shalom was drafted into the IDF in early January 1956, and served in the Golani Brigade for two and a half years, and his discharge certificate was described as very good and his commanders’ assessment was that he served as a quartermaster to our full satisfaction. He began working at the Tabor knitwear factory in Afula, and was hired by the Afula Municipality in the technical department, and in 1963 Shalom married Zohara, and over the years they had three daughters and a son, Shalom was a kind man who loved to help everyone. Many of them were friends who loved to come to their home and were greeted with a smile and a smile, and Shalom loved his family and took care of everything His main hobby was to watch soccer and basketball, he loved music, enjoyed his daughter’s music, and listened to Israeli and Oriental songs as a reserve soldier, Shalom participated in the wars of Israel and was decorated with the signs of Sinai, the Six Day War and the Day of Atonement. 1984) Shalom fell in the line of duty and was put to rest in the military cemetery in Afula.
