Shvuyam (Fink), Samuel

He was born on August 15, 1922, in the city of Sopron, Hungary. At the age of 14, his father died and the burden of caring for the family was placed on his shoulders. He soon became aware of the life of his labor and the ability to adapt to every job was conspicuous throughout his life. After a period of training he immigrated to Palestine in May 1941 and joined the “Village Guard” group that was then in Kfar Sava. Then he moved with the nucleus to Osha and there he learned the work of the building. After the nucleus was united with the Nitzanim Zionist youth group, Shmuel was among the first ten immigrants to settle on greenhouse land near Beer Tuvia. Here, in the limited society, the finer qualities of his character were evident, his willingness to work hard and his desire to contribute to the enterprise with all his might. He walked in secret and modestly but his hand was in everything. He was later recruited to the Nutrim corps and, during the course of the Notrim course, on August 20, 1944, eight months after the immigration to Eretz Israel, Be’er Tuvia and his two friends, Yitzhak Bachrach and Moshe Niskovitz, were run over by a military car. On 21 Av 5744 (21 July 1944), he was laid to rest in Nitzanim, leaving a mother and two brothers, and Kibbutz Nitzanim took out memorials for the three victims.
