Shvartzman, Arnon


Was born on the 15th of Adar 5703 (March 15, 1955.) When he was four, the family moved to the Dovrat group in the Jezreel Valley, where Arnon studied for five years in elementary school. In Kibbutz Kfar HaNasi in the Upper Galilee, where Arnon had no trouble finding his place in the youth society and at school, although he was a shy, quiet and humble boy. He was interested in many fields, and as much as he did, he did with love and devotion, read and write a great deal, played the violin and the guitar. When he finished his high school studies, Arnon did not go straight to the army, he decided to fulfill his duty to the society and to the movement within which the “Working and Studying Youth” operated – And spent a year of service on behalf of the movement in Jerusalem, where he worked as a counselor in a poor neighborhood and in the education of marginalized youth, and since then he was sent to the city of Jerusalem. Due to illness from his youth, he was given a low health profile. Arnon protested in a letter against this ruling, which prevented him from choosing one of the elite units in the army. Nevertheless, he was placed happily in the paratroopers’ unit, and thanks to his adherence to the target, he met the basic training requirements. A parachuting course also passed successfully. He was now sent to a squad commanders’ course and promoted to corporal. He was recommended to undergo a course for infantry officers, and he was also awarded the highest rank and was declared an outstanding member of the army, and he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant.In his military service Arnon stood out for his humility and authority over his subordinates, He was a courageous soldier, although he had an expression of violence in his soul, and after completing compulsory service, he responded to his commanders and agreed to serve for another year in the career army, first with the rank of lieutenant. The family issued a memorial booklet called ‘Arnon’ in his memory.
