Aryeh (Leon), son of Esther and Israel, a Holocaust survivor, was born on April 30, 1946, in Bulba, Poland. Together with his parents he went through a long agony, full of dangers of suffering and hunger. After spending two years in a refugee camp, he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949, at the age of three. When he grew up, he studied at the Kiryat Amal elementary school in Kiryat Tivon and at the Amal vocational high school in Kiryat Haim. After graduating, he worked in the “Ta’ashen” factory and in those days was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement. Arieh was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in May 1964. After completing his basic training, he served in the tank training course “Sherman.” He served as a disciplined soldier in the Armored Corps and participated in the war in the Golan Heights in 1967, “After being released from regular service, he worked as a locksmith in two factories, but not for long, since he always aspired to be independent without a” landlord, “and so after his release he became an independent contractor within the framework of the Amisragas company. He was a good friend and always ready to help his friends and support them. : “Sometimes we would feel that he was a kind of ‘father’ of everyone; With a great ability to persuade, and a great deal of initiative. We, his friends, were attracted to him more than he was attracted to us. It was pleasant with him, for he had a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere around him. But alongside this openness, there were sides that were signed before his friends. He was not open-minded. He chose his companions very carefully. He did not like flattery and hated hypocrisy. Like a sparrow, aspired to be independent, and hated to accept the yoke of authority. He can not sit idly by. He always wanted to move forward, to reach greater activity and to succeed, and in this field he was uncompromising. “In 1971 he married his girlfriend Rivka and had a loyal and dedicated husband. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Aryeh was not called to report, but he felt his unit and was sent to the Golan Heights, where he took part in the battles in the southern Golan Heights and in the enclave. On October 16, 1973, And through Jubba he reached as far as Tel Masjara. The Syrians kept sniping at the tanks of our forces, which began to move back after long fighting. In one rocket barrage, Aryeh’s tank was hit and he was killed on the spot. He was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery. Survived by a wife and son, parents and sister.
