Shthel, Israel


Son of Simcha and Tova. He was born on October 6, 1924 in Leipzig, Germany, immigrated to Israel in 1939. He studied at the Hebrew Gymnasia “Herzliya” and later at the Max Fein Vocational School. He served in the British army in Egypt as a weapon, was drafted into the IDF in February 1948, and during the War of Independence was active in besieged Jerusalem. On the 28th of Tevet 5716 (12.1.1956) he fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Words in memory and image were uploaded in “Avim”, a school bag issued in 1960 by the local council of Ramat Hasharon.
