Shrema, Mordechai (Mordoch)
Mordechai, son of Shoshana and Shalom, was born on the 28th of Adar 5713 (28.2.1953) in Ness Ziona. Mordechai was drafted into the IDF in mid-February 1972 and assigned to the Armored Corps. It was not easy for him to go to this combat corps. When he reached the time of his enlistment, the IDF refused to enlist him due to lack of weight, but he did not easily relinquish his right to serve with his friends, and appealed the decision and underwent a series of other tests. The Armored Corps, the Artillery Corps, and the Golani Brigade, he was very proud to belong to the family of the black berets and invested great efforts in training, and after completing basic training he was assigned to an armored combat unit in Sinai In the Yom Kippur war, Mordechai participated as a tank driver in the fierce containment battles south of the Tzeuz Zidar, parallel to the edge of the Suez Canal. On the tenth of Tishrei 5740 (October 11, 1973) his tank was hit and went up in flames. Mordechi could not get out of the burning tank. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Nes Ziona. Survived by his parents, four sisters and a brother. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. His parents donated a Torah scroll to his memory.
