Shraga, Shimon
Son of Zlata and Shlomo. He was born on January 2, 1913 in Jerusalem and lived in Kfar Ata. He was a member of the Histadrut and joined the Haganah. During the bloody riots of 1936-1939, Shim’on enlisted in the Naval Guards and was assigned to guard duty at the port of Haifa. One day when he accompanied an electrician who went to repair a broken electric light near the port gate, he was shot in the ambush and was seriously wounded. On 22 Adar, March 13, 1939, he died of his wounds and was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery. He left a wife, daughter and father. His name is commemorated in a memorial group that was published by the “Kofer ha-Yishuv” and in the Yizkor book of the Jabotinsky Institute.
