Shraga, Menachem-Gideon


Son of Avraham and Rachel. He was born on the 16th of Tishrei (13.2.1941) in Tel Aviv. After graduating from elementary school (BILU) he studied at the B Municipal High School in Tel Aviv and was considered a good student. During his spare time, he was involved in artistic photography. After completing his matriculation exams, he was drafted into the IDF in August 1959 and served in various units in the infantry in command and training positions, and in the summer of 1961 he was dismissed from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he was a geologist. During the summer vacations he worked for the “Tehil” company at work near his field of study. After three years of study, he received a B.Sc. degree with a high degree and continued his studies towards the degree of M.Sc. and graduated cum laude. From time to time he was called up for reserve duty and even during the Six-Day War was in this framework. But on the first day of the battles, he was 26 Iyar 5727 (5.6.1967), fell in the Battle of Tzur-Behar in Jerusalem. He left a wife and a son who had not yet completed a year; His daughter was born about five months after her father fell. Was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In the book “Nizkor”, published by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Student Union, edited by Yehuda the Civil, his history and description of his last sacrifice were presented. In a booklet published by his brigade, his name was engraved. An article about him was written in the journal of high school students in Galei Alef.
