Shpiner, Meir (“Monia”)


Son of Yitzhak and Sarah. He was born on 28 July 1930 in Haifa At the age of seventeen and a half he was at the end of his last year of studies (in the 1948 class) and immediately joined the army and gave his hand to his brothers in the War of Independence, He worked in the Technion at the construction research station, He served as an artillery officer and on March 29, 1956, in an attempt to rescue his wounded commander from a shower of shots – the enemy, fell in battle. He was buried at the Military Emergency Cemetery in Bari and on Thursday, October 30, 1957, he was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa, left a wife. The school administration decided to award an annual prize in his name to an outstanding student in his studies.
