Shogam, Yehuda
The only son of Bilha and Michael was born on October 14, 1930 in Kfar Sava. He was one of the best students in elementary school and one of the most outstanding gardeners. He was interested in Jewish subjects and studied Talmud with his grandfather. Teachers at the Herzliya Gymnasium in Tel Aviv praised him especially for his good manners. Judah chose the agricultural track in the Gymnasium and in his studies at Mikvah Yisrael he was among the best students in his aspiration to add his knowledge and efforts to bring out perfectly perfect work. From the Gymnasium he moved to the agricultural school “Kaduri” in order to continue their agricultural training. In December 1947, with the outbreak of the War of Independence, following the UN General Assembly’s decision to partition the country into two states, he devoted himself entirely to the defense of the school, and his teachers tried to convince him that he would be satisfied with defending the school. But he replied that in these difficult times there was no father and mother, only a nation and a homeland, and the blood of the good friends who fell fell out crying for vengeance. After training he participated in battles in the north, Latrun, Gezer, Lod and Ramle. From time to time he would come home to calm his parents. He later took a commanding course and went down with his unit to the Negev, and as a heavy weapons operator he participated in the “Yoav” operation for the breakthrough to the Negev, and on the 18th of Tishrei 5709 (18.10.1948) he fell in an attack on the Hulikat outpost. On the 17th of Iyar 5705 (4.5.1950), he was transferred to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
