Shocham (Stein), Zohar
Son of Rivka and Michael. Zohar was born in Tel Aviv on June 30, 1953. Brother to Ilan. Zohar grew up and was educated in Tel Aviv. He attended the Tel Hai elementary school. At the end of 8th grade, he was accepted to the military boarding school of the “Herzliya Hebrew Gymnasium”, lived and studied at the boarding school for two years, and then moved to the Kibbutzim College in Ramat Aviv. Zohar loved the country and taking a walk. He was an outstanding swimmer and represented the “Brit Maccabim Atid” association in various competitions. He was also a diver and a lifeguard, and was certified as a first-aid provider. Zohar joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1971. During his service, he underwent a course for officers and officers. In October 1973, during the Yom Kippur War, he participated in the battles in the Syrian front in the Golan Heights. Afterward, he served for a short period of time in the regular army and completed his military service as an operations officer, with the rank of captain. After his release Zohar studied at the Wingate Institute and in 1977 was ordained to teach physical education. In addition to his studies, he completed his photography studies at the Technion. Zohar also worked for a time as a youth counselor for the Zionist Organization in the United States. Zohar joined the General Security Service in 1979. He was appointed to the security role, for the course of securing representative offices abroad. Zohar was killed in a training accident on the 13th of Av 5739 (6.8.1979). He was twenty-six years old. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, Tel Aviv. He Left behind parents and a brother.
