Shnyos (Zamir), David


Son of Klara and Karl, was born on May 27, 1925 in Czernowitz, Bukovina, Romania, and had a high school education. During the German-Romanian occupation of 1941-1944 he went underground and was active in Betar, and as the Red Army approached, he fled to Bucharest, and on March 23, 1944, he boarded the “Maritza” ship, flying a Bulgarian flag from Constanza to Constantinople. And completed a pilot course. As part of the Palmach, he took part in many activities, and with the temporary break in the activities of the Hebrew Resistance movement that united the three underground organizations, he joined Lehi. Continued his sabotage activities and served as a weapons instructor. Was one of the experts in assembling mines. For a while he concentrated on Lehi operations in the south, and at the beginning of the War of Independence he was responsible for the Lehi Brigade in Jerusalem. On July 25, 1948, while inspecting the ammunition depot in the Lehi “Dror” camp in the Talbieh neighborhood, there was an explosion for an unknown reason, and David was killed and brought to eternal rest in the Sanhedria cemetery in Jerusalem.
