Shneur, Gedaliah (“Gidi”)

Shneur, Gedaliah (“Gidi”)

Son of Kalman and Yona. Born on September 13, 1934 in Haifa, he studied at the “Kol Israel Haverim” High School, was a member of the Scouts movement and later a member of the Pioneers Scouts Movement, But because it was difficult for him to be a yeshivah of volumes, he went to the Yiron farm on the northern border. With the division of the school in Ein Harod, he came to Ein Harod of Hakibbutz Hameuhad in a group of young members of his movement and joined the 11th grade, and immediately became absorbed in the company, and he was very fond of it. When he went to the army in August 1954, he thought of himself as a member of the kibbutz, recognizing that this was his way of life and during his days of service he would take every opportunity to get home – even for a few hours. Just as he showed with his cheerful simplicity his willingness to engage in any work and help wherever he was needed within the agriculture, he showed dedication and responsibility within the army. Took a course for tank commanders and finished it; He also took an officers’ course. Was about to complete his training, but was asked to continue his service because of the importance of his duties. He went to the Sinai Campaign as a tank commander, and in his last letter, one day before being hurt, he wrote: “The main thing is that we are ascending and succeeding, starting from strength to strength. Was wounded in the Gaza conquest and died on 7 November 1956. He was brought to eternal rest in the Ein Harod cemetery, after which he was assigned the rank of lieutenant-colonel, “Thirty” and even the anniversary.
