Shneidmesser, Yitzhak (Itzik)


Son of Deborah and Mordechai, was born on 11.2.1930 in Tiberias to the family of Amal. After finishing elementary school in Kiryat Haim and the Haifa Maritime High School in Haifa (the mechanics department), he worked for a short time on the Kedma ship. Isaac was forced to stop his work because of the family’s demand that he be found next to the house, but continued to dream about Hebrew seamanship and his return to it. Although Seurad Yam was exempt from enlistment, he joined the “HaNoar Haoved” youth movement and served in the first Palmach regiment, when he joined the “HaNoar HaOved” movement, (13.4.1948) in the Battle of Mishmar Ha’emek. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
