Shnee, Ran

Son of Fania and Yitzhak, was born on 13 August 1962 in Kiryat Tivon. Ran began his studies at the “Narkissim” elementary school and continued at the “Greenberg” high school – both in Kiryat Tivon. He stopped his studies in the twelfth grade and went to work, saving money for a trip abroad and returning as a “man who discovered the world.” Ran was a member of the Scouts movement, from which he moved to Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed. As part of this movement, he joined the “Horev” nucleus, which was trained in the “Alonim” and was designated for settlement in “Ravid”. Ran served as the secretary of the nucleus, and devoted himself to the various functions assigned to him in the agriculture. He studied things that interested him, studied and pondered them with all his might; In matters that did not interest him, he did not bother. Ren tended to accept unconventional ideas, liked a company of people, glad to make connections with adults and young people alike, especially with those who seemed interesting and special in their behavior and way of life. He liked music a lot – mostly heavy rock. The tendency for his great love-man, he discovered as a child. He used to adopt people whose fate was not as good with them, and help them as best he could. There was something sad about him that he did not want to give others a part of. Usually, Renn was quiet, a little shy and introverted. In a small society, he would open up and show a thin and gentle sense of humor. Ran enlisted in the IDF in early January 1981, and with his friends in the nucleus volunteered for Nahal. On June 10, 1982, Corporal Ran was killed in a battle in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War, in the eastern fighting sector, in the Bekaa Valley near Lebanon The village of Lavi was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Kiryat Tivon, where Ran left behind his parents and a sister.
