Shmueli, Itamar (Mark)


Itamar, son of Bella and Zvi Shmueli, was born in 1926 in Jerusalem. At the declaration of the state he was among the first to set out for the Galil, serving in the Ussishkin Fortress and participating in the battles of Ein Zeitim and Meron. He joined the “Oded” Brigade, served in Rosh Pina, Ramot Naftali and the Hula Valley, and participated in the Battle of Malka, and in Operation Brosh to destroy the Syrian bridgehead in the Mishmar Hayarden area. In the fierce battles in the area, on the 3rd of Tammuz 5708 (10.7.1948), he was hit by a bullet and fell. Two weeks after his fall, he was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
