Shmuel (Shmul), Chananyah

Son of Miriam and Eliyahu. Born in Kiryat Shmona on the 26th of Iyar, May 8, 1964. His parents and older siblings immigrated to Israel from Morocco a year earlier. In May 1983, Chananyah joined the IDF and was accepted as a combat soldier. He served in the First Lebanon War. In 1989, he moved to the Navy and served at the base in Haifa. Chananyah was a professional and high-quality commander. Chananyah fell in the line of duty on the 20th of Av, August 10, 2009. He was forty five years old. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery of Kiryat Shmona, leaving a wife, two daughters, a son, a mother, four brothers and four sisters.
