Shmuel (Seidoff), Erez


Ben Batya and Shukor. Born in Jerusalem on the 29th of Shvat 5731 (29.1.1971), he spent his first years of studies in Erez, the state religious elementary school in Tzur Hadassah and the Nes Harim Elementary School in the Judean Hills, where he also attended middle school. In early July 1990, Erez enlisted in the IDF during the hesder yeshiva at the Yamit yeshiva in the Katif region. Erez served as a religious coordinator in the framework of the military rabbinate and fulfilled his duties seriously, with care and with the initiative. In February 1993 he moved to the Nir Yeshiva in Kiryat Arba. On Thursday, 28.5.1993, Erez was killed in a battle in Hebron, while he was on his way to the Cave of the Patriarchs, where he used to pray daily, was attacked by terrorists and killed, and was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He was survived by his father and nine brothers and sisters – Yigal, Yechiel, Bat Sheva, Dina, Eti, Sara, Yonatan, Rachel and Anat, his family and the “Nir” hesder yeshiva in Kiryat Arba.
