Shkedi, Mordechai
Son of Chaya and Menahem. Born on the 16th of Tammuz, July 6, 1936 in the city of Targonimatz, Romania. Mordechai immigrated to Israel in 1950. He was drafted into the IDF in the middle of August 1954. After basic training he was stationed in the Signal Corps and served as a Field Fighter until his last day. Mordecai was an outstanding soldier in everything he did, and his commanders and friends loved him very much. On the 25th of Adar 1, February 28, 1984, Sgt. Mordechai fell in battle in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War. He was brought to eternal rest in the military section of Hadera’s old cemetery. He left behind a wife, two sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister. His commanders said after his death that he was a quiet, devoted, industrious soldier who had served in his profession for thirty years and participated in all of Israel’s wars.
