Shitrit (Aloni), Arie (“Arla”)


Son of Shimon and Tzipora. He was born on 31 January 1932 in Haifa and the family moved to Kiryat Haim in 1936. After completing his studies there, he studied at the vocational school near the Hebrew Technion in Haifa. He belonged to the Gordonia movement and was a youth counselor. He worked as a diesel mechanic at the electric company. He loved art and belonged to a folk dance troupe in Hapoel Haifa. At the age of 16 he volunteered for the Armored Corps. He then completed an officers’ course and was able to participate in several battles. He fell in the Battle of Abu-Agila in the Sinai Campaign on the 28th of Mishvan 5717 (2/11/1956) and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant.
