Shirem, Yosef (Yossi)

Shirem, Yosef (Yossi)

Son of Ezra and Rina. He was born on the 12th of Av, July 26, 1950, in Kielce, Turkey. The family immigrated to Israel in 1959, when Yosef was nine years old. He attended the “Rashi” elementary school in Jaffa. In November 1967, he was drafted into the IDF, and assigned to the Armored Corps. In his service, he proved himself to be a model soldier, who did everything he had to do, in the best possible way. Before he could serve his full duty, a mortar shell hit a bunker, and he died. This was on the 15th of Elul, September 8, 1968 in Dir Suar, near the Suez Canal. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
