Shinan, Khaled


Son of Zane and Sayid. Was born on June 24, 1966, in the Druze village of Hurfeish. Born to a noble and religious family. His father, a prominent member of the community, has served for more than 10 years as the imam of the village. Khaled grew up and was educated in the village. He studied at the elementary school in his village, Hurfeish, and continued his studies in the Tarshiha High School. He graduated cum laude with honors, and aspired to study in academic studies after his military service. Khaled was a very responsible young man who devoted many hours to his family, helped his father support and supervise his younger brothers and helped the family work the land. In November 1984, Khaled volunteered for the IDF and served as a combat soldier. On 3/7/1985 he fell during his service and was put to rest at a full military ceremony at the cemetery in his village – Hurfeish. Survived by a father and 11 brothers and sisters – Rafika, Fika, Shafika, Sharir, Shuki, Vered, Ruhiya, Shinan, Gan, Munira and Shoret. His family commemorated him in a corner of their home. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Khaled represented the daring and quiet soldier, volunteered for every mission, and carried out his mission without hesitation.” From the eulogy of the brigade commander: … “A dedicated soldier, persistent, responsible, motivated and punctual”
