Shimshi, Shlomo (Emil)
Son of Nabati and Alfred, was born on October 5, 1953, in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Ilanot Elementary School in northern Tel Aviv, completed the junior high school and continued to study at the “Shevach” vocational school in a technical and maintenance course. He spent another year studying at the IAF Technical School. In February 1972 he joined the IDF, underwent basic training and served in the Ordnance Corps, and in September 1973 was promoted to Corporal. Shlomo fought in the Yom Kippur War and after the war, in January 1974, was promoted to the rank of sergeant and discharged from regular service. Shlomo volunteered to serve in the regular army, with the rank of sergeant. “The opinion of his commanders was that” he is a responsible and devoted soldier, performing his duties efficiently and diligently. Shlomo trained as a mechanic for various types of vehicles – APCs, armored vehicles and gasoline vehicles. For a short while he was released from the army and tried to integrate into civilian life, but returned to service. In 1980, he married Jean and in August of that year was promoted to the rank of sergeant major, was finally discharged from the regular army and began his reserve service on August 23, 1984.
