Shimoni, Avner (Avraham)

Shimoni, Avner (Avraham)

Son of Menashe and Miriam. He was born on October 31, 1956 in Moshav Betzet in the Western Galilee. He did his elementary studies at the elementary school in the moshav. He continued to study for two years at the Amal vocational high school in Nahariya. Avner was a cheerful boy, and his circle of friends was extensive. During his studies he took part in the various activities of the Gadna, as a member of a moshav, and was very helpful in his work, The Artillery Corps. After basic training at the recruits’ base, he was paid driving and assigned to an artillery battalion, as a heavy truck driver. He did his regular service in Judea and Samaria, and despite the difficult conditions of service and the rickety roads, he fulfilled his duties with dedication and perseverance. His comrades-in-arms do not remember any complaint he ever had. On 25.10.1975 Avner was killed in the Nahariya cemetery and left behind his parents and two brothers in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family: “Your son served in an artillery unit, and during his service in the unit he was a good soldier , Quiet and disciplined, and served as a good example for his friends. “
