Shimon, Zvi


Son of Dov and Adina. Born on April 17, 1948 in Afula to the parents of Kibbutz Beit Hashita, when his parents moved to Kibbutz Ayelet, and after a year to Kibbutz Degania Aleph, Shimon grew up with the children in the kibbutz’s communal and equal atmosphere. The love of the land, the work of the land, and friendship and loyalty to society, these ideals guided him in his life, he completed his elementary studies at Kibbutz Degania Aleph and then moved to Beit Yerah high school where he graduated from high school. He was a first-rate student at the school, his grades were among the highest in the class, he wrote a lot in the class newspaper, participated in competitions for Bible topics’s knowledge and natural subjects and has won numerous awards. He loved nature and traveled extensively in Israel. He was interested in archeology and knowledge of the country. In the company of the children he was loved and accepted because he was always willing to help others. Zvi was drafted into the IDF in August 1967. During the diving training he was wounded and forced to leave the IAF, and was transferred to the Golani Brigade infantry brigade, where he served as a platoon commander in one of the brigade units. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel and was appointed platoon commander, and was awarded paratroopers in November 1970. In November 1970 he was discharged from the army. He married a wife and worked for the Israel Police. In 1973 he was a security officer at son of-Gurion Airport and served as head of the inspection unit. After leaving the police, he undertook to manage the Amidar building company in Ramla. He was called for periods of reserve duty and always did his duty not to hesitate. During the Yom Kippur War he participated with his unit in battles on the Egyptian front and left the war safely. In June 1975, he decided to return to military service, took a three-thirds course and was sent to his new unit as a commander in the company of a company commander and head of a division.In 1976 he was born a daughter and an exemplary and devoted father and care for his family, Who is doing his best. Entrepreneurial, energetic and determined, fulfills every task to the end. His subordinates loved him and respected him for his honesty and integrity and for his fair treatment of every person. “On 13 December 1978, Zvi was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on Kibbutz Degania A. He left behind a wife, daughter, parents and two brothers.
