Shimon, Shalom (“Shumi”)


Son of Avraham and Sarah. He was born in Rishon Letzion on July 29, 1957. He studied at the BILU religious school in Ramat Eliyahu. Afterward he continued his studies at the Gan Yavne Yeshiva, where he studied Torah and crafts. Shalom was a quiet and pleasant student, serious about his studies and loved by everyone. His behavior was exemplary and he helped his friends and enjoyed sharing his happiness and sorrow. As a youth, Shalom was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement. He loved music, listened for hours to recordings and musical programs on the radio and learned to drum. First on his own and then with a teacher to play. Shalom combined studies at work, because he felt a need to help his sick father, his mother and his family (brothers and sisters). He studied carpentry and worked in this profession. On holidays and on Shabbat nights, peace was the center of interest of the family. She sang a cheerful spirit in the house, told tales and jokes, and encouraged everyone in need of support and help. He was loved and loved by his classmates. His classmates also liked him and he had a close relationship with everyone around him. Shalom was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in March 1975. He volunteered for the Engineering Corps and was sent to basic training in the center of the country, where he was an excellent soldier and during his army service he discovered his qualities from childhood.
