Shimmonoff, Ben-Zion

Son of-Zion, son of Hanan and Husani Shimmonoff, was born in the Soviet Union on January 20, 1953, and immigrated with his family in 1974. As his commander attested, Son of-Zion was “a good and dedicated soldier, helped his hard-earned friends and liked them all”. His commanders enjoyed guiding a soldier like him and were impressed by his wonderful character and his crystallized personality. On the 12th of Kislev 5736 (November 16, 1975), Son of-Zion died during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by a pregnant wife, parents, four brothers and sisters.
