Shikar, Moshe


Son of Sarah and Israel, was born in 1928 in Turkey. He received his Zionist education in the underground. On October 29, 1943, Moshe and his brothers immigrated to Israel as part of the Youth Aliyah from Turkey. Two years later, after completing his studies, Moshe joined the moshav Tekuma in the Negev. He was always cheerful and liked by his friends. For a while he was responsible for security in the area and then became a guard stationed in Nir Am. At the beginning of the War of Independence, he served in the Negev Brigade and participated in the escort of caravans in the Negev, guarding the waterline. A few days before he fell, he flew over Kfar Darom and sent supplies to the besieged village. On the 25th of Iyar, June 3, 1948, he participated with his battalion in an attack on the Egyptian Alignment in Ashdod. In the face of the heavy enemy fire, his unit had to retreat and in that battle he fell. On the 6th of Elul 5709 (August 31, 1949) he was laid to rest in the Nachlat Isaac Military Cemetery.
