Shiber, Zvi

Shiber, Zvi

Son of Yitzhak. He was born on July 18, 1910 in Bukovina, Romania. He studied at the Radautz High School and was one of the founders of Beitar in his city and one of the main activists in it. Zvi was an example to his students in the realization of the national Torah in practice and joined the Hachshara group and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1930. Zvi settled in Binyamina, “Menorah”, which served as the basis for the labor battalion from which the conquerors of Ramat-Tiomkin set out, and after completing his service in the Betar enlistment, he joined the ranks of the Irgun and began the difficult and suffering path of a Jewish worker in Eretz Israel. When the riots of 1936 broke out, Zvi volunteered to guard in remote and dangerous places. Everywhere he showed seriousness, responsibility and, above all, an ability to get acquainted with field activities. On 22 Tamuz, July 21, 1938, during a guard duty in Zichron Yaakov, he was seriously wounded by a gang of Arabs and died on the way to the hospital in Hadera. He was buried in the cemetery in Zichron Yaakov. He left a mother and brother. His name was immortalized in the book Betar and In Their Memory Forever.
