Shevet, Moshe (“Moishik”)
Son of Dov and Rachel. His father was a member of the Haganah and participated in the War of Independence; His maternal grandfather, one of the first settlers of Acre, devoted most of his time to security. Moshe was born on September 23, 1948 in Haifa at the height of the War of Independence. Moishek was a devoted son and a loving brother to her age. Moshe began playing the flute and at the age of nine he was accepted to the Haifa Youth Orchestra and played the clarinet. During his membership in the Haifa Symphony Orchestra he was chosen to participate in the film “Exodus”. At school he took part in various social activities: sports, basketball, swimming, reading books. Moishek belonged to the Hanoar Haoved movement and completed his studies at the Loewenhartz High School in Kiryat Motzkin. In May 1966, he volunteered for a Paratroopers Brigade and took a combat paramedics course. While serving in regular service, the Six-Day War broke out. In the battle that took place near Gaza on the first day of the battles, on the 5th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), while the platoon was caught in the fire by mortars and tanks, Moishek tried to rescue and bandage the wounded even after he was wounded. At the end of the battle, the enemy fire overwhelmed Moishek and brought him down. Moishek was buried in the military emergency cemetery in Bari, and was later transferred to a temporary rest in the Haifa military cemetery. In the book “The Trees Shocked,” it is a memorial book for the boys of Kiryat Haim who fell in the Six-Day War, its history and something of its estate were brought. The local council of Kiryat Motzkin issued a pamphlet in memory of the fallen boys – which is among them. His name was also mentioned in the book “Praise to Them” by Mordechai Naor.
