Sherer, Idit

Daughter of Nurit and Sharon. Born on 15.6.1979 in Be’er Sheva, she grew up and was educated in Kibbutz Magen in the Beisor region, began her studies in the kibbutz elementary school and graduated from the “Maaleh Habesor” school. And until 12th grade served as a guide. Idit loved riding horses and galloping in open spaces. However, she was also a book lover and often she could be found immersed in reading. She led a wide social life and captivated many people. She had a rare combination of inner strength that gave her the freedom to “be what she is” without being “aligned with the current,” with great sensitivity to others and consideration. At the end of her studies and before joining the IDF, she spent a year of service in the movement, during which she experienced independent life and experiences that enriched her and enriched her inner world. Thanks to her high grades, she was assigned to an officer’s course and when she was successfully completed she was assigned to a combat squadron in one of the bases in the north of the country. In her military service, as in her civilian life, she stood out in her tall, radiant figure, leaving no one indifferent. “We met dozens of your friends and commanders over time,” says the family. “We stand amazed at how a twenty-two-year-old girl managed to touch so many people, to leave something of her unique personality.” After a while, Idit moved to serve at the Ramon base in southern Israel, where she served as a training officer in one of the helicopter squadrons. Its commander says that the crossing, despite its difficulties and frustrations, did not leave its mark on it, and Idit quickly became the social spearhead of the squadron’s flight squad: “The role of the training officer is particularly demanding, There is no moment when you can lean back, rest, take a short break, always plan ahead, arrange training flights, etc. In the course of her job Idit was exposed to work with the entire squadron population, from clerks, He was in constant contact with the emergency and reserve personnel, and everyone knew how to find the right way Minister, on the one hand, was a member of the squadron’s squadrons, officers and officers, and on the other hand she maintained a close relationship with the regular soldiers and reserve pilots … Her unique character enabled her to carry along soldiers and officers alike, Idit kept an optimistic look and did everything in order to learn from the mistakes and move forward. ” Idit used her short vacations to the fullest, as if she wanted to spend the time and get more and more done. For a moment she did not rest and was running and hurrying from place to place – meeting friends, going out to a party or just going out to feel the weekend’s freedom. In August 2000 she began her career service. Idit shared her family’s dilemmas about moving to the center of the country, the big city of Tel Aviv. The family says: “You were afraid, but you were determined to finally take the step that you so wanted and talked about for a long time: to exercise your freedom and free yourself from the family ring. And when you came home on weekends and were debating with us, you would say that you had decided, and this time it was final and safe, and the next time you arrived, you raised the same dilemma again … ” But Idit’s plans and reassurances were abruptly cut off and her dreams were not fulfilled. Idit fell during her duty on 4 July 2001 in a traffic accident that occurred at the base of her car, and a military truck collided with her van.That. She was taken by helicopter to Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva, where she died of her wounds. She was twenty-two years old. She was brought to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Magen. Survived by parents and two brothers – Roy and Neta. After her fall she was promoted to captain. The commander of the unit wrote to the family: “I met Idit a year ago, and very soon I discovered what hidden powers she was in. Despite the demanding role, she knew how to deal with the daily difficulties and not to ‘shake her head’ even when things were not proceeding as planned. Idit’s ability to create a warm relationship with so many people and at the same time to carry out her work faithfully, without self-concessions, while demonstrating professional ability and endless motivation. Of people, from so many sectors, I have yet to see, personally, Idit, I will miss her very much. I was able to joke with her and tease her, without worrying that she would not understand and be insulted, and I often authorized her to use a military vehicle to go to Mitzpeh Ramon or home, but I worried that something would happen to her on the way. And she never disappointed me, who would have imagined that she would end her life in such a tragic way that Idit left behind a huge space that would not be closed … The wasp squad bowed its head in deep sorrow and promised to stand by you in the difficult moments. ” Idit’s family wrote in her memory: “… Anyone who saw you, even once, sure remembers, and whoever did not, so he knew he had lost a blonde, six feet tall, thin with blue eyes, and if that were not enough, And you know exactly what you want from yourself, at least that’s how it looked from the outside … Inside, we knew that you had a lot of doubts and fears … At home you were always and remain the family ‘Princess’ … And with you, Without suffering, with the eternal smile on your face – as the last people saw you, but since you went: Every day, every hour and every second we think of you, see you and feel you. Now the house is quiet and tidy, you do not really know what the music is, and what book has been released recently, what is the best restaurant in the city and who is the pilot in question? A great void that can not be filled, the sense of missed opportunity, the abundance of plans, the dreams that never materialize, the feeling that everything could have been different …. We loved you, loved you and loved you all our days. We will never part from you. “
