Shen, Ran (“Rani”)
The eldest son of Dan and Ruth. He was born on June 30, 1947 in Degania Bet. His father, a member of the “Youth Aliya” from the Czech Protectorate, who had already set foot on the ground; His mother was the daughter of Degania Bet, the second generation. Ran was among the first grandchildren of the group. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, the children of the farm were forced to remove the children from their homes and they were taken to Haifa. But when they got home he was Simcha with his friends. The boy of nature was Rennes and he found satisfaction in his love and care for animals, his work in the field, horseback riding and hiking. Although these things led to the cancellation of the Torah, because they took away the time to prepare homework, and parents were angry at him more than once because of this, but these actions were necessary for him to subvert the expression of love in his soul. He knew how to help people and respected a father and grandfather – a trait that attests to his Yaffa soul. Ran studied at the joint school in the Jordan Valley and completed his studies for one year at the agricultural school in Kfar Galim near Haifa. His life in school was not easy, for his Lev was always floating in the fields, among the horses and cows. The break-up of a school year in Kfar Galim caused him great sorrow and, indeed, at the end of the year he finished his other years of studies at Beit Yerah. How long he worked in the farm and his working hours were not hard for him and he was always ready to come to the aid of a friend. During leisure and leisure, he would read books, go swimming in the Kinneret and take care of his dog. But in the middle of his work he was stopped in July 1966, when he was drafted into the IDF and went to serve in the Nahal Brigade. He passed several courses, including a parachuting course. In the army itself, not everything is easily given to him. But he took it all lightly: “Nothing, we’ll get over it.” But he was still in compulsory service and during the fighting in the trenches for the purpose of their purification Ran threw a grenade that was returned to him and hit him – and so he died; This was in a battle that took place before the Rafah junction on the first day of the fighting, on 26 June 1967. He was buried in the emergency military cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to the eternal rest of the cemetery at Kibbutz Degania Bet. The kibbutz issued a booklet in his memory called “Rani”. In “Kinneret”, a two-month periodical of the Emek Hayarden Regional Council, his memory was raised. In “Agra”, the weekly of the Union of Groups and Kibbutzim that appeared after the Six-Day War, his memory was raised, and things were mentioned about him and his book “On Their Way” published by the Union of Kibbutzim and Kibbutzim. In a booklet in memory of the children of Kfar Galim, the memory was raised.
