Ben Yona and Lipa, the husband of Shlomit Hoffman, was born on November 10, 1976 in Rehovot. A younger brother to Billy, an older brother to Reut and Naama. He grew up in Rehovot, July 11, 1994, he enlisted in a course for captains, but at a certain stage, he decided that what suited him better was a service in the “green” framework, where he thought he could make a more significant contribution. He completed the course successfully, as well as the “Rachaf” course – a quick training for an officer – a special course in combat engineering, and within a relatively short time he graduatedThe military command courses, and received command of the battalion patrol unit of the Engineering Battalion, 601. He was one of those commanders who carried the soldiers behind them. During his military service, served in the army, served in Lebanon, took part in the fighting in the Gaza Strip, in Judea and Samaria, and took part in Operation Defensive Shield. August 9, 2006, Captain Yoni was killed in a battle in southern Lebanon. He is 29 years old. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Mazkeret Batya cemetery. Survived by his wife, parents, and three sisters.
