Shemesh, Shmuel
Son of Zalman and Hannah. He was born in Tel Aviv on February 11, 1929. After graduating from the elementary school he completed his studies at the Montefiore vocational high school, And later in the “United Movement.” After completing his studies at the Montefiore School, he joined the Palmach and spent many nights with his friends in the water and transporting immigrants to the beach. Was among those who intervened among the “Shabtai Luzhinsky” immigrants and were sent by the British authorities to Cyprus. During the War of Independence he participated in the battle known in Nebi Samuel and was one of the only survivors. Afterward he moved to the Navy and, being talented, was sent to various courses in Israel and France and reached the rank of lieutenant. He dreamed of continuing his studies at the Hebrew Technion in Haifa, but fate did not want to, because he fell on the eve of Purim on 10.3.1952, a week after being sent to his post in Eilat, while he was feeling rescued by boats. In Kiryat Shaul, at the naval base, an elaborate clinic was dedicated to his name and memory.
